Since God is good...since all have sinned...since Ctrist died for the ungodly....since God demonstrated His love toward us in that while we were yet sinners and Christ died for us...since God's plan is unfolding...and since His purpose is unchanging...that all peoples will be reconciled to Him in Christ...let us therefore present ourselves to Him as living and set apart sacrifices: wholly and completely His (v.1-2). Let us change our way of thinking....not considering that we are something special in ourselves...but that God has loved us and given us His Name (v.2-3).
Let each and every one fulfill his unique role in God's purpose and do it to the glory of God (vv.4-8). Let's truly love one another from the heart....not looking for personal gain but for the benefit of another (vv.9-13). Let's each respond to others as Christ's ambassadors...trusting God to deal with people as He ought, and giving no opportunity for people to speak ill of God on our account (vv.14-21).
We do these things...because God is. Period. And may His grace abound.
Proverbs 19:21 is the takeaway today. "Many plans are in a man's heart, but the counsel of the Lord will stand." We all have great ideas about how we see to best live our lives. We can even tell God how much more our plans make sense. However, we all know that only God's plans are best. We still err. God never does. To have plans that will last forever then...we could/should seek to know God's counsel and then plan according to His way.
Grace,

I first have to say... what a week? It has been wonderful but boy am I tired... :)! I know God is molding me and my family and Romans has really touched me during this time. I feel like God took you to Romans for me (I am sure that is not true) and I am glad He is using it in my current calling. I am constantly saying what does God want from me and now Jason and I are saying where do you want us and what do you want us to do. What great direction!! v. 2 Don't focus on the people of this world. Change your thinking. Then I will know what God wants... I am always saying what I want and what I need but instead God is saying to me... 'Look at me, focus on me' God wants my undivided attention!
I love the last part of the chapter where Paul describes our love for each other. Tough Love, hard love... kindness unmeritted.. That is the love of Christ, amazing love!
