I am writing briefly to speak to the election results from last night. There are some of you who will be jubilant over the results because you have been promised “change.” Others will be disheartened because your party or candidate of choice did not win. Let me say that it is time to put the “election” behind us and move forward. I cannot imagine a more destructive conversation than for God’s people to become “soured” and complain about their government. However, it would be equally destructive for God’s people to go about excited that the government will now meet their needs.
Governments are instruments in the hands of God. God is the SOLE provider. Only He can be trusted to meet needs and provide for His people. Whether you were excited or disheartened when the outcomes of the ballots were announced, our call and the Mission has not changed at all. Governments cannot change the hearts of men. They can only respond to them.
I received an article from one of my “friends at a distance,” Ed Stetzer. I want to share a paragraph from the article with you…because I think it is instructive for you and I as we seek to maintain a laser sharp focus on our purpose and approach.
“We're about to choose a new leader for ourselves, and, regardless of who wins,
some American Christians will be frustrated and disheartened. This is a
difficult election for many Christians, but it should not-- it cannot-- eclipse
our mission. And while politics and presidents can connect to the outworking of
our faith, God uses the preaching of the gospel in word and deed to bring
redemption to the broken, forgiveness to the sinful, hope to the lost and the
real "change we need." It is not an elected official who will transform the
country, but the grace of God at work in his church-- that is what changes
lives, transforms cultures and turns cities upside down.
November 4th will
come and go, but our mission remains the same, and our hope remains secure.
That's change we can believe in.”
Join with me in praying for our nation, and for President-elect Obama.
Grace to all.

Good word! The question we should all be asking ourselves is where do we place our hope ~ in Christ alone or our government and elected officials.
I have to confess that I am one who is dishearted from the election. Although a part of me knew he ws going to win. When I received the news my heart was burdened and heavy for this nation. God burdened me to my knees for this nation. It is of the utmost importance for us to spread the news of the gospel more than ever! I thank God for the freedom that we have in this nation to worship freely and I am scared that will change in the coming years. I pray that is not the case, but I can't help but to feel that way. This election outcome has given me a bigger burden for my neighbors, friends, and family. The time is drawing near and I know in my heart that each day that passes was filled with missed opportunities. YES PC... I WILL join you in prayer for our elected leader(s)... we should all see the great need for people to know of Jesus... before it's too late.
